Volunteering
This page offers some ideas on ways you can help out in and around Balboa Terrace. If interested, e-mail the board for more information!
Volunteer at Commodore Sloat School or Aptos Middle School!
We have two beautiful public schools in Balboa Terrace, and while San Francisco no longer has "district schools" per se, they're still our neighbors, plenty of Balboa Terrace kids are learning there, and they need lots of help!
- Clean Up, Green Up at Commodore Sloat School. August 14, January 8, and May 21, 10 am to 2 pm, rain or shine! Meet in the school yard.
- School Beautification Day at Aptos Middle School. Watch this space for the next scheduled event.
- Commodore Sloat morning valet drop-off service. Each morning from 8:15 to 8:45, parents drive to the front of the school and volunteers get their children out and into the school. Neighbors can sign up for a weekly or bi-weekly shift. It keeps the kids safe, and it helps control traffic in the neighborhood. View flyer.
- Tutoring, reading, gardening, helping with field trips, etc. Contact SF School Volunteers for more information on what you can do. Whether it’s reading a book with a student, helping to solve a math problem, working on a new computer skill, cultivating a garden, or helping a teacher with a field trip, there are hundreds of opportunities for you to be a part of as we all work to make our public schools great.
Balboa Terrace Board of Directors:
Interested in serving on the board? They meet once a month, and any homeowner in good standing can serve (i.e., paid your dues, aren't in violation of any city or neighborhood laws.)
Balboa Terrace annual picnic:
Want to help organize the annual picnic? Have some fresh ideas to share? E-mail the board! Help is welcome!
If you know of another way to help in our neighborhood, get in touch with the board to discuss! This page is a work in progress! |
